Market Acceleration Strategy
Optimised Energy Systems
Australia’s energy transition depends on a flexible, optimised energy system.
That’s why Australia’s energy system will need to truly harnesses the demand side to deliver lower costs, reliability and better outcomes for households and businesses.
The EEC’s Optimised Energy Systems: Market Acceleration Plan will drive reform to unlock demand-side value and enable homes and businesses to actively participate in the energy system.
The Energy Systems Plan is currently in development and will launch in August 2026. While this work progresses, the EEC has convened the Optimised Energy Systems: Market Acceleration Taskforce to guide priorities on how industry and government can embed demand-side opportunities in the system, align regulation and market design and strengthen public engagement around energy flexibility.
