Commercial Buildings Electrification Roadmap: research report

The Commercial Buildings Electrification Roadmap stage one research report presents the first phase of research into how Australia’s commercial building sector can transition away from fossil fuels and toward efficient, all-electric solutions.

The report reviews the existing evidence on current gas use across building types and identifies key drivers and barriers to electrification. Drawing on expert consultation and evidence review, it proposes a practical typology of commercial buildings and sets out policy recommendations for governments to accelerate electrification in Australia’s commercial building stock.

The report was delivered in partnership with the Property Council of Australia, with support from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and with funding from the Victorian Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action and the New South Wales Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
